About
Musical Arts Camp Hawaii was originally established by Jakob Meir as a music and arts summer program for young talented musicians. Today, it continues as a Honolulu-based organization that provides music education, holds student performance events, and offers unique cultural experiences.
Founder and Instructor
Jakob Meir is a multi-instrumentalist, music educator, performer, and founder of Music Arts Camp Hawaii. He specializes in teaching plucked string instruments (guitar/ukulele), woodwinds (saxophone/oboe/clarinet/flute), and beginning piano. As an experienced band director, Jakob also teaches percussion and all other band instruments from a beginner to intermediate level.
Jakob completed his Bachelor of Music degree at the Aaron Copland School of Music and has a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from CUNY Queens College. He completed his graduate studies in music at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He has performed and taught in the US and Japan.
